We're All in Love

No, I haven’t been writing, because it’s so hard to write about heartbreak. So instead I draw the sort of love that’s not hate. Because when I draw that sort of love, I’m visualizing something entirely new we created, something that’s never been felt before, not like this, or so I think. But it's easiest to spot love when we're heartbroken. It all looks the same, actually. And all the writing there is to write about heartbreak has already been written, right? I’ve taken comfort in looking around as far as my field of vision will let me and summoning the fact that there are so many heartbroken people in New York right now. People are getting divorced, for crying out loud. People are in love and people are fucking dying. Of course it’s hard to write about New York in the same way it’s hard to write about heartbreak. These are saturated genres, but so am I.
