I made the car in a Riso workshop in the spring, 2019, and drew the cityscape a year later. The concrete (a photograph), and other details, are recent additions to the collage. I linger on artworks that linger on shadows, and in lingering on shadows make clear there is light. When we speak colloquially, figuratively of shadows, we think of invisibility and anonymity and slipping in. But what about finding shade in summertime?
