Butterflies in the Attic
2022. Digital.
Drawn from an assortment of observances and references. Incorporated photographic texture overlays for the tapestry, floor, and TV screen. Elementary science curricula tend to omit the scientists’ estimate that ninety percent of monarch eggs and larvae don’t live to grow their wings. It’s tragic, but unsurprising, given the vulnerability of a transitional state such as chrysalis. An adolescent’s attic cocoon is more adequately protective, but the metamorphoses it hosts bring their own challenges.
